For simple edits, I start by going through all the clips and selecting the ones I want to use. I don’t think in order at first I just collect what feels right and build a mental image of the possible edit.
After that, I listen to music and see what naturally connects in my head. The rhythm, mood, and energy of the track usually guide how I structure the visuals. When I find a match between the footage and the music, I start bringing it to life in the timeline.
This process is more intuitive than technical. It’s about feeling the flow first, then shaping it into something cohesive.
For larger projects, the process is more structured and includes more preparation, planning, and direction before I even start editing.
